Recreational Therapy uses the “APIE” method for creating group as well as individual activities.
A-Assessment
Upon admission, residents are assessed holistically, with a detailed description of the resident, current preferences, and previous interests.
P-Plan
A plan of care is established with includes measurable goals and objectives, intervention strategies with sequence and structure, desired outcomes, and documentation of the intervention plan.
I-Implement
The plan is followed through by Life Enrichment staff, in collaboration with other departments to ensure best possible outcomes.
E-Evaluate
An evaluation is completed to determine the effectiveness of the interventions used (if goals and objectives were met), and resident’s level of satisfaction.
