Physical Therapy:

Physical therapy is a health care profession that focuses on the practice and application of movement.  The process of physical therapy includes an assessment through an evaluation of a patient’s ability to perform certain tasks.  Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center’s physical therapists have received many years of extensive formal training in the treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ailments that affect one’s ability to perform everyday tasks.

The physical therapy department at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center uses a wide variety of techniques to educate and restore residents to their highest functional mobility as well as preventing injury.  These techniques include exercises, balance activities, and manual procedures such as electrical stimulation (e-stim) and ultrasound.  Goals and objectives for each resident are based on the assessment and evaluation.  Once these have been set, treatment begins.

Goals may include returning home, reducing pain, increasing range of motion, increasing awareness of safety, and preventing future injury.
