Therapy Internship

VNC will accept Speech Language Pathology graduate level Appalachian State University students under the direct supervision of Rebecca Soltysiak, SLP.  SLP students will work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in the geriatric population.  Students will work collaboratively with professionals from multiple disciplines and provide training to family/caregivers related to impairments. 

VNC will accept Physical Therapy Assistant students at varying levels of clinical practicum from Caldwell Community College.  PTA students skilled will learn technical skills from observation and hands on experience from a licensed PT or PTA related to mobility.  Students will be assessed on procedural intervention, safety, data collection, documentation, time management, ethical behaviors and communication skills. 

VNC will accept Occupational Therapist graduate level students from Lenoir Rhyne University to develop clinical skills with a supervising OT-R.  Students will observe and have hands on experience learning the assess, diagnose, and treat impairments related to activities of daily living.

Music Therapy Internship

Valley offers a Music Therapy Internship program under the direction of our board-certified Music Therapist, Meredith Whitlow and in affiliation with Queens University of Charlotte and with Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. Interns will gain experience across multiple diagnoses and have opportunities to co-treat with IDT members. If your AMTA approved institution is interested in establishing a university affiliation please contact our Music Therapist.
